Baptisms

We are always happy to hear from parents who wish to give thanks for the birth of their child. Sometimes the most authentic way to give thanks will be through a service of thanksgiving. Such a service can be arranged to suit your needs, and can be held either in church, or at another location such as your home or even a park. A service of thanksgiving does not imply any further commitment to the church, but acknowledges the natural desire to give thanks to God for the wonder of a new child being born. Please ring the Parish Office on 46391910 and leave your details, and a staff member will contact you.

It may be more appropriate to celebrate your child's birth with a service of baptism. Baptismal Services are usually held as part of one of the regular services in the parish on Sundays. These are (usually) 8am at St Luke’s, 9.30am at St Mark’s and 4.30pm at All Saints. This allows the church community to join with you in this celebration! In exceptional circumstances baptisms may be held at other times.  By baptism your child will become a member of the Christian Church with all the privileges and responsibilities which that implies. If you would like your child to be baptised, please call the Parish Office on 46391910 to make arrangements to speak with one of our baptism team. They will explain a little bit about the church you are asking for your child to join and talk with you about the service itself and what it signifies. You may appoint two or more godparents, who must be over 18 and have been baptised themselves.

There is no fee for baptism however a donation towards the mission of the Church would be gratefully received. We look forward to hearing from you!
