Christian Meditation

"In Contemplative prayer we seek to become the person we are called to be, not by thinking of God but by being with God. Simply to be with God is to be drawn into being the person God calls us to be." John Main, OSB

Tired? Stressed? Is life too frenetic?

Discover a key to finding serenity in the midst of the pressures of life through Christian meditation. Linked with the Australian Christian Meditation Community, a meditation group meets at St Luke’s, in the Parish Ministry Centre, on Wednesday evenings (for half and hour) at 5.00pm.

Meditation is a way of pure prayer marked by silence, stillness, and simplicity. The ancient Christian tradition of meditating on a single sacred phrase (mantra) was revived by the English Benedictine monk, Dom John Main (1926-82), who established an ecumenical Christian Meditation Centre in London (1975). Later the World Community for Christian Meditation was formed in London (1991) and our parish group is affiliated with this worldwide movement. For today many Australians and other Christians worldwide find this a helpful prayerful path.
